The long awaited cry! They heard it again.
Yes, the wait was over.
The nurse said it’s a ‘Baby girl’; no it didn’t sadden them at all.
Although, they hoped for a baby boy!!
A boy, who could relive their lives,
But, it didn’t sadden them at all, she was a girl.
She has to be ‘accepted’ and ‘approved’ to live.
Yes, she was a girl. For she can’t be move freely like the spineless boys running around the streets,
She can’t fight or take a flight, she would be then, remained of values and that, she is a girl.
They say, a girl has to behave in a particular manner! Yes, she was a girl.
She can’t explore the world, for she is confined to the walls.. they say the world outside is not meant for her. Yes, she was a girl. She was mocked at, laughed at, restricted, belittled and ignored.
But, they came to her to gratify their needs. She was now, needed! Yes, she was a girl.
They forgot, she was a girl..
She tolerated it, it happened in the name of culture and values. She had to behave.
She grew, she was married and sent away.. she hoped for a new life. A dream that, she dreamt as a girl.
No, it didn’t shatter. She was now a woman and like a lady she did what she had to do, she was a diplomatic and tolerant wife. Yes, now she is a woman.
She says it is not all that beautiful to be a woman; they make it ugly for me. She felt captivated; her life was changed for good or bad?
She was now growing restless day by day and now, she wanted to break the set boundaries.
Like, the flowers in the backyard of her place she wanted to bloom again and this time she wanted to be at the receiving end.
She was a selfless mother for years, she made sacrifices!!
Every morning she woke up but, her eyes now bore no dream to fulfill,
Whom should she live for?
She was now, with her man alone.
Her children had fled away..far from her..
Yes, now she was a mother!
They couldn’t help her. She was now, alone.
She sipped on her morning tea, sitting alone and looking at the rising sun!
She smiled and was lost in thoughts..
It was a chilly morning, but she could not feel the coldness, she was numb.
She was so accustomed to coldness. She didn’t know how it feels to be warm.
Yes, now she was growing old. She was left with no dreams to dream.

Yet, she rose with the rise of the sunshine. But, now it was too late.

Unfolding the story..

Charmed by his wittiness, she treasured him forever;
Keeping away her inhibitions, as now,
His divinity, kept unlocking her existing fears
This time it flew away far from here;
The spotless path, was newly laid for her,

‘You stood like armor’, she declared,
Despite, the darkening night, you strive to erase;
But, you were caressed with sleepless nights,
Yet, there he stood again like armor for me,

Scars remained affixed though; I kissed until he cured;
While, unfolding his secrets to me, he revealed his fear,
For I, kept them near until he was cured.

As, an act of intimacy neared;
It bridged the feeling of emptiness among the dear.
Yes, she treasured him without any fear,
Not just for a year but, Forever!

Far from the noise and inhabitants, take me away I want to revive those splendid moments now, gone astray. For I am not destined to be amidst the flock, for they will never figure out the rising urge to endure but, time and again I am mislead and feel like captivated by my predominant thoughts.

But, how far can you take me? Ah! Such a folly I make of myself asking a stranger to take me to a strange place. I wish we had stayed unfamiliar to each other. Neither abashed of the relation shared, not even the feeling of friendliness. After a while, it’s just the residue of the memories that unconsciously prevails in our mind.

I NEED HER BACK!!

I told her, it’s a new day,
something, it wants to say.
Close your eyes, feel the ray,
she refused and walked away,
away from herself.

She wanted to know her better.
But, seemed like she had fettered,
what was she waiting for?
A fairy tale,which never existed.

Her troubled eyes and incomplete smile,
gone with the time, her sparkled smile,
I need her back to walk many miles,
and meet her again not just for a while,
everything will pass and go away,
But, you will wait and make a way.

For you are, mine!
Will make everything fine.
I told her, it’s a new day,
something, it wants to say.

MAFIA QUEENS OF MUMBAI...

Maffia, the world of bloodshed and terrifying ‘Dons’ and ‘Nanis’— is a pulsating piece of work which unravels the untold stories of the underworld. It is written by a veteran journalist S. Hussian Zaidi with Jane Borges, a Senior Sub-Editor at Deccan Chronicle, Mumbai.

We read about how a life of a simple girl (Ganga) who belonged to an elite family in Khatiawadi falls into the prey of a young man. Ganga who was fascinated with Bollywood realized that this young man who was appointed as an accountant by her father had good contacts in Bollywood. She fell in love and eloped away with him to Mumbai to become a big star. Her dreams were shattered; the man whom she had trusted had sold her to a brothel for Rs 2000.

Her life became regretful, as she was ill-treated, beaten for not behaving like a sex worker. She then took the decision of continuing her life in that brothel, and after few years went on to become one of the most sought-after and well-paid commercial sex workers in Kamathipura. She was the head of Gharwalis (usually, has an entire floor to herself with forty pinjras or more, the Bade Gharwali has an entire building under her jurisdiction.) and popularly known as Gangubai.

This is one dreadful story of Gangubai, there are various other true stories of Karim Lal, Arun Gawli, Dawood Ibrahim and Chota Shakeel. For many of us it would be shocking to read about women Dons like, Jenabai and wives of the dons— who supported their husband’s to get into this murky business of Murder, Kidnapping and drugs.

In the middle of this sinister drama how can a love story be evaded? The love story of Dubai based Don, Abu Salem and the actress Monica Bedi unfurls a swindling love tale. According to the book, Monica was innocent and was trapped by Abu Salem in the name of love. They were arrested in Portugal for carrying fake passports due to which she was imprisoned for more than 2 years.

It is an interesting book, it is one book full of crime based true stories which revels the other side of it. It is a must read for people who love to know the unknown stories of the criminal class and the love stories of Don’s, there is a reason behind such cruel actions and that is, poverty and that is why they end up into such illegal ways of making money. Happy Reading!!
